The Accommodation

Top Barn has its own front door from its own gravel parking area. The property has underfloor heating downstairs with radiators upstairs. The property is unconventional with two bedrooms/bathroom downstairs and a kitchen/living room on the first floor.


You enter through a door into a hallway/utility area that has a tiled floor. There is a washing machine with an integrated tumble dryer in a cupboard to the right and an old church pew to sit on to take your boots off in front of you. The door to the link hall with Wytons Piece leads off to the right.

Bedroom 1

Going through a door to the left the first bedroom on the left has two 3' divan beds with a tiled floor and rugs.

Between the two bedrooms there is a bathroom with a steel bath and a separate large walk in shower and a heated towel rail.

Bedroom 2

The bedroom at the end has a king size 5' divan with a tiled floor and rugs. This room look out onto the courtyard which can be accessed from this bedroom.

Stairs lead off the hallway to the first floor. At the top of the stairs to the left is the kitchen/dining area which is fully equipped with an electric oven, hob, hood, large fridge freezer, microwave and dishwasher. There is a pine dining table and four chairs with breakfast bar and two stools. There are exposed beams and a high ceiling.

Living Room

On the right-hand side are two Sofas and a Smart TV with a DVD player. There are exposed beams and a high ceiling.

Additional Information

A cot, high chair and stair gates are also available on request. The property is centrally heated. There is limited wifi available-enough to use the Smart TV. All Linen and towels provided. There are great views of the grass valley and the fields beyond.

Half term weeks are a high season rate.

Please note that we are able (with a few exceptions) to take short breaks in Mid and Low season, but we would not take a short break in the High Season unless it is within 4 weeks of arrival. These prices are for a full complement of 4 people in this property.

A 2 or 3 night break costs 75% of weekly rate.
A 4 night break costs 85% of weekly rate.
A 5 nights or over costs the full weekly rate.

  • Top Barn is 900m east of Ascott-the postcode point of Ascott is CV36 5PP. We will send you a local street map if needed with your booking form
  • The nearest bus service is to Whichford which is 1.2 miles away.
  • The nearest train station is Moreton in the Marsh(10 miles)-services from London Paddington-Oxford-Worcester. Banbury(12 miles) -services from London Marylebone-Bicester Birmingham New St. We can send you details of local taxi operators.
Key Collection, Welcome and Car Parking
  • Please collect the key from our house which is in between Top Barn and Ascott. Please contact us on 01608 684240 to let us know when you are coming. There is off road parking for cars in the in the gravelled area outside the property. Entrance to Property
  • The Hall door is 32.5inches/830mm/wide and has a threshold height of 6 inches/150mm.
  • The yard is lit by two lights on PIR switches. If you let us know if you are coming after dark we will put the lights and heating on if needed to welcome you.
  • The property is not conventionally laid out-there are two bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs with a large kitchen living room upstairs.
Entrance hall and Passageway
  • These rooms are on the ground floor level, which is tiled, there is a 2mm grouting gap in between each ceramic which are a mixture of cream and grey stone coloured tile.
  • There is underfloor heating throughout the whole of the ground floor
  • The table in the hall is 30inches/760mm high.
  • The doorway to the washing machine cupboard is 26.5inches/670mm wide.
  • The Doorway from the entrance hall to the passageway that contains the stairs is 31inches/790mm wide.
  • The stairs have a tread with of 28.5 inches/725mm. The rise height is 8.25inches/210mm.The tread depth is 9.5inches/240mm. There are 8straight treads with 3 that turn to the left at the top. There is a handrail on the left that is 36 inches/910mm high.
Twin Bedroom-Ground floor
  • The door width is 28.75inches/830mm.
  • In the twin bedroom there two single beds, the height of the beds is 670mm/26.5 inches. There is one bedside table height 23.5inches/600mm, wardrobe and chest of drawers height 37.5inches/940mm. There is natural light, down lighters and bedside lights. There is a rug of contrasting colour on the floor.
  • This room is tiled, there is a 2mm grouting gap in between each ceramic which are a mixture of cream and grey stone coloured tile.
  • The bathroom/toilet is in between the twin room and the kingsize bedroom with a door width of 28.5 inches/730mm. The bath is enamelled steel with a separate power shower enclosure. It does not have natural light and has overhead spotlights. The Toilet -with seat-16inches/410mm high. The Wash basin 32inches/810mm high. The edge of the bath is 21 inches/535mm high/. There is a removable bath mat for use when using the bath/shower.

  • There is a Fridge/freezer, highest shelf in fridge is 59inches/1500mm, the lowest shelf in the fridge is 35 inches/890mm.
  • There is a freezer below, the height of the highest shelf is 27 inches/685mm, the lowest shelf is 4 inches/100mm.
  • There is a pine dining table which is 30.5 inches/770mm high with wooden chairs 17.5 inches/445mm high.
  • The floor to "under table height"(the amount of knee-lower leg room) is 620mm/24.5 inches.

Additional Information
  • Trained assistance dogs are welcome at no extra charge.
  • All areas in the cottage have good colour contrast between the floor, doors and walls. Generally, doors are light pine wood in colour and walls are light in colour.
  • The mobile phone reception can be poor but Orange is the best coverage The nearest General Hospital with an A&E unit and walk in NHS is 12 miles away in Banbury and the nearest Doctor’s surgery is 4 miles away. Further information is in the welcome folder
